OSIGLIA, A SMALL BUT PRECIOUS PEARL OF LIGURIA.

If you find yourself in the splendid region of Liguria, perhaps near Savona, you absolutely must not miss a visit to Osiglia, a small jewel nestled among the mountains. This village, with less than 500 inhabitants, is located in the province of Savona, and its position is truly unique: immersed among chestnut, oak, beech, and conifer woods, yet only 20 minutes by car from the sea. It’s trurly a corner of paradise for those seeking an authentic experience away from the more beaten tourist paths.

The pulsating heart of Osiglia is undoubtedly its lake, which offers a wide range of recreational activities. But don’t stop there, because there are other sights to see, such as the ancient village and the town itself.

WHAT TO DO

  • Canoeing: At the Imbarcadero, you can book a canoe to peacefully explore the lake.
  • Mountain Biking: For forest lovers, Osiglia offers 40 kilometers of mountain biking trails, suitable for both experts and beginners, with breathtaking panoramic options. For a guided experience, you can book in e-bike tour.
  • Hiking: For walking enthusiasts, there are numerous trails to explore, leading to destinations such as Monte Camulera or Monte Settepani, which can also be traveled by mountain bike.
  • Mushroom Foraging: In season, foraging for mushrooms in the woods is a very popular activity. Remember, however, to obtain the necessary daily or annual permit.
  • Fishing: For enthusiasts, the lake offers excellent fishing opportunities, especially for trout, but it is necessary to have the appropriate licenses.
  • Walking and Running around the Lake: A scenic route of about 5 km, perfect for those who love more relaxing activities.
  • Windsurfing: Although I have no personal experience with it, windsurfing is very popular on the lake.
  • Swimming: There are several parts of the lake that are suitable for swimming, and if you don’t feel like taking a dip, you can still relax by catching some sun.

WHERE TO EAT

  • La Tavernetta: Enjoy a delicious trout or try the pizzas and farinatas in this cozy restaurant.
  • Ristorante C’era una Volta: For a unique experience between sea and mountains, this is the ideal place.
  • Mazut Bar and La Bacolla Bar: Both places are perfect for the famous italian aperitivo with the lake view.
  • Local Products: Don’t forget to visit the small family-run shops like Galese Oreste butcher shop, recommended if you love meat. You must buy the sausage, the salami and lard, the best in the area. Don’t foget to try the “grizza” from Panetteria Barberis Lorenzo, a unique and highly sought-after bread in the area.

WHERE TO STAY

  • Relax at La rosa sul lago, a vacation home nestled in the greenery of nature, just a few steps from the lake, where you can unwind.
  • Located just a few kilometers away from Osiglia, this delightful B&B Va…lentina offers an exceptional experience, characterized by its welcoming atmosphere and the tranquility of the location.
